Fit keeps the proportions and makes the image as large as possible inside the box you set. With the default 800 × 600 box, a 1200 × 800 PNG becomes 800 × 533, not 800 × 600. Cover fills the box exactly and trims what sticks out, centred, so 1200 × 800 into 800 × 800 gives a square with the sides cut off. Fill and Exact dimensions both stretch the image to the numbers you type, which distorts it when the shape changes.

For a cut you place yourself, use Crop on an image in the list: the frame is locked to your target shape and the area you choose fills the output exactly. Presets cover common targets such as 1080 × 1080 for an Instagram post, 1280 × 720 for a YouTube thumbnail and 1500 × 500 for an X (Twitter) header.

A smaller PNG is not always as small as you might expect. Our 1200 × 800 PNG photo of 1,601,750 bytes became 871,485 bytes at 800 × 533, about 46% smaller. But a 2400 × 1600 PNG scaled to 1200 × 800 came out at 2,015,848 bytes, larger than our original 1200 × 800 file, because the browser’s PNG encoder compresses less tightly than the optimisers many apps use. Making a PNG larger than its original size can increase the file a lot for the same reason.

If the resized PNG is still too heavy, run it through the PNG compressor afterwards, which cuts the colour count and keeps transparency. If it is a photo, consider JPG or WebP instead.

Transparent areas stay transparent: the canvas is cleared before drawing, and PNG stores the alpha channel. That makes this the right page for logos, icons, stickers and product cut-outs that need a particular size on a website or in an app store listing.

Scaling uses the browser’s high-quality smoothing. That is what you want for logos and photos, but it blurs pixel art and very small icons when you enlarge them, since hard pixel edges are softened. Enlarge those in whole multiples, 2× or 4×, in an editor with nearest-neighbour scaling. Animated GIFs come out as a single still PNG frame.

Each file is decoded, drawn at the new size and encoded in your browser tab. No server sees it, and nothing is kept after the tab closes. You can add up to 10 images of up to 50 MB each, every side can be up to 10,000 pixels, and Download all saves the batch as a ZIP.
