Turn a sideways photo upright with Rotate left or Rotate right, 90° per click, or straighten a tilted horizon with the slider, which goes from −45° to +45° in one-degree steps. The rotation is drawn into the pixels on a canvas in your browser, so the photo shows the right way up everywhere afterwards, including the sites that ignore a phone’s orientation flag. Nothing is uploaded.
Phones rarely rotate the pixels when you hold them upright. They save the image in the sensor’s landscape layout and add an EXIF orientation tag that says "show this turned 90°". Most current browsers and photo apps read the tag, but older software, some print shops, email clients and upload forms do not, and the portrait photo arrives on its side.
This page avoids the problem. The browser draws the photo the way it appears on screen, the rotation you choose is applied on top, and the file is written with the pixels in their final position and no orientation tag left behind. A 4032 × 3024 photo rotated 90° comes out as 3024 × 4032, upright in every program.
Rotate right turns the picture 90° clockwise; Rotate left turns it 90° the other way. Two clicks in either direction give you 180°, the fix for a scan that went through the feeder upside down. The button shows the current total, so you can see at a glance whether you are at 90, 180 or 270.
Straighten is for a horizon or a document photographed at a slight angle. Because tilting a rectangle leaves empty corners, the editor zooms in just enough to fill the frame, which trims a thin strip from each edge. On a 4:3 photo that zoom is about 2.3% at 1° and 4.6% at 2°, so a small correction costs very little of the picture. At larger angles the trimmed area grows quickly; at 10° or more consider cropping the result yourself so you choose what is lost.
Same as original keeps JPG as JPG, PNG as PNG and WebP as WebP; BMP comes out as PNG because browsers cannot write BMP. JPG and WebP use the quality slider, 92 by default, and PNG is lossless. Our 1200 × 800 test JPG of 224,092 bytes came back at about 222,800 bytes after rotating at quality 92, so a rotation does not noticeably change the file size. The output carries no EXIF block, which also removes any GPS coordinates; keep the original if you need the camera data.
Decoding, rotating and encoding all happen in the browser tab. No server receives the photo, nothing is stored after you close the page, and no account is needed. Add up to five images of up to 50 MB each; the same rotation is applied to all of them, and Download all saves them in one ZIP.
