Photos from your phone carry hidden EXIF metadata: exactly when and where they were taken (down to GPS coordinates), your phone model, and the camera settings used. Removing it protects your privacy before you post a picture online or send it to someone you do not know well. This tool rewrites the file structure to delete those metadata segments without re-compressing the image, so the visible quality is untouched — and it all happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded. Supports JPG and PNG.

How to remove metadata from an image

  1. 01

    Select your photos

Drag in one or more JPG or PNG files, or click to browse.

  2. 02

    Strip the metadata

The EXIF, GPS and camera tags are removed from each file automatically.

  3. 03

    Check the result

The cleaned image looks identical — only the hidden data is gone.

  4. 04

    Download

Save the cleaned files individually or as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does removing metadata change how the photo looks?
No. The pixels are not re-compressed — only the metadata blocks are deleted — so the image is visually identical to the original.
What exactly gets removed?
EXIF tags such as GPS location, date and time, camera make and model, lens and exposure settings, plus other ancillary chunks. The picture data itself is kept.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The file is rewritten locally in your browser, so the photo and its location data never leave your device.
